The eighth inning started with Nick Markakis on first, Alexi Casilla on second, and young, third baseman Manny Machado at the plate. Machado hit a line drive to Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano, who fielded the ball and flipped to shortstop Jayson Nix to get the first out at second. Casilla had to freeze on the line drive, which gave Nix time to fire to third baseman Kevin Youkilis, who caught Casilia in a rundown and getting the second out. (Those are always fun to watch!) As the rundown is going on, Machado rounded first and went for second, allowing Youkilis to throw to our first baseman Lyle Overbay, who made an unbelievable throw to Cano to get Machado at second, and get the third out.
Confused? Here’s a replay for you to watch over and over again. Yes, it’s that awesome.
